It is the semi-finals of the Arena Racing Company Kent Silver Salver at Central Park this evening where we have taken a look over the card for our three selections.
Saturday's Tips
*** Shadow Storm - 7.50 Central Park
** Donishall Sam - 6.10 Central Park
* Zenith Sultan - 7.10 Central Park
The quickest time in the opening round of the Arena Racing Compay Kent Silver Salver last week was set by Richard Rees's Shadow Storm. Given he had only seen the track once before in his life, a trial back in March, there is a distinct possibility that he is going to be capable of improving on that time here from the same starting position in the red jacket.
It seems remarkable that Donishall Sam is still a maiden having made the quarter-finals of the English Derby. He ran Swords Style to a head in a trial stake for that competition and then was less than four lengths behind Proper Heiress in the third round and then running in the same quarter-final as Ballymac Deniro and Lennies Eddie. He was a finalist in the Connaught Derby at Galway in Ireland and a maiden really ought to be a formality.
The red jacket might not be the ideal starting slot for Zenith Sultan, though he has scored from this position a couple of times in seven tries. He does have a 28.73 around this track and trip in the opening round of the Kent Derby last year. He found early trouble from this slot the last time that he was here but he is a very capable sort and he is worth giving another chance to.
