Saturday's Tips

The Star Sports & Orchestrate Ltd English Greyhound Derby hits the quarter-final stage this evening with some hugely competitive looking heats to try and pick apart.

QF1 - 8.18

Proper Heiress is 8/11 in his career from the red jacket, his three defeats coming on debut, in an Irish Derby final and in a Kent Plate final behind a new track record. He is big enough to hold new track record holder Epic Ace to his outside at the opening bend and that could be enough. With four railers and a vacant trap, Ballymac Iroko will have no excuses out wide.

QF2 - 8.38

Ballymac Duffle was immense setting a new track record in the first and second rounds but his performance last week was arguably his best. He walked out and still went through a decent field in style. He looks every inch a champion in the making. He can't afford any slip ups from a middle draw with Scooby The Lady and Gaytime Clyde both smart performers inside of him but the black jacket will suit much better.

4-2-3

QF3 - 8.58

Lennies Eddie has the early pace to avoid Donishall Sam inside him, with that runner likely to move to the right on the run to the turn. The selection should be away and gone by that point and turning in front should be game over. Ballymac Deniro is a classy hound who has not been disgraced in chasing home a couple of the top home team of late. Lennies Tank was behind his kennelmate last week but can do enough to qualify again.

2-4-6

QF4 - 9.18

Ballymac Ralf is coming on leaps and bounds with each run at Towcester and can pass what is his toughest test to date. There is early pace on each side of him, so he cannot afford any mistakes at the lids, but he can accelerate down the back to have this won at the third bend. Strike It Skye can make it two bitches into the semis, while the move to a middle seed looked a good one for Getup The Boy who can fill out the frame.
