*** Baran Tombstone - 8.41 Towcester
** Sonic Blitzen - 7.49 Towcester
* Longcroft Ant - 6.59 Towcester
Two starts ago when winning at this B2 level, Baran Tombstone dipped under the 27-second mark in his victory. That form stands out a mile in this field, and although he did not manage to reproduce that on his most recent start, he should be able to turn on the shoulder of the leaders tonight and assert down the back.
There is a drop into A6 grade this evening for Sonic Blitzen for the first time since March. He has won at A5 level on three occasions since then, and has clocked as quick as 29.78. He is not the most consistent, following a decent run two starts back with a flat effort last time out but there is enough talent at this level to give him another chance.
It is tricky to know what to expect of Longcroft Ant. He has produced some very smart trials but repeating that in race scenarios has been rather too rare so far in his career. He is a smart sprinter at this track and if he can use that pace to get himself to the front before the opening bend this evening, he might be able to show what he can do over this longer distance.
