Friday tips - 5th September

Aero Najem (T4, 7.44 Romford)

Droopys Alldeway (T1, 7.27 Romford)

March On Luna (T3. 8.36 Romford)

All eyes tonight are on the Coral Romford Puppy Cup which gets underway with six heats at the London Road circuit.

Red-hot ante-post favourite Magical Luka lines up in heat four (8.01) and the unbeaten youngster is the talk of greyhound racing right now. After two demolition jobs over this course and distance since arriving from Ireland, Kevin Hutton’s dog can advertise his incredible early speed once again, but he is priced accordingly.

There is better value to be found in the other heats and one who fits that bill is Aero Najem (T4), who defied the lack of a previous look round this venue when making all in a trial stakes a fortnight ago. That form has worked out well, with the second and third scoring here since, and Richie Taberner’s bitch should come on for that outing. Vermithor is a short price to beat her at 7.44 but the selection has smart early speed and could go well from the front at a big price.

Another fancied to build on a recent victory is March On Luna, who was returning from a long break when winning a maiden here in good style last Friday and gets the nod in heat six at 8.36. The Craig Morris-trained bitch didn’t lead up that night but showed a good attitude, as well as nice all-round speed, to come from behind and win with plenty in hand. She has drawn one of the weaker heats and can break better now moved to a middle berth.

One of the best drawn dogs of the night appears to be Droopys Alldeway (T1) at 7.27 and he can capitalise on that lovely make-up on the fence. The Hove maiden winner was in the wars in the semi-finals of the ARC Puppy Classic at Nottingham last time out but has moved well in a trail here since and is desperate for the rails. Paul Young’s charge gets his preferred red jacket and should have the beating of his rivals to the corner.
