Graham’s Monday Tips- Bachelor to land Sprint Final
Nottingham is the host of the only open race action in the UK on Monday evening as they stage a couple of open’s, the highlight of which is the final of the Nottingham-greyhounds.co.uk Maiden Sprint Trophy over 305m at 8.19pm where Kim Billingham-Hine’s Newinn Bachelor looks the one to beat
Having been well fancied when scoring in his heat last week, he looks to have a good enough make up out in trap six here with his rivals inside likely to be favouring a move towards the rails, so there could be plenty of room for Newinn Bachelor to operate in and a decent break could see him secure the £500 prize
The other open is a gents only contest at 8.54pm and having been denied in his bid to land a five-timer in last week’s £500 final, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Outdoor Yankee regaining winning ways again here. Esther Driver’s strong running type has been coming from off the pace to pounce on the long run for home in recent weeks and a repeat of those tactics could see him proving too strong at the finish again.
Graded action makes up the rest of the card and Colin Wilton looks to have an interesting debutant in the 6.53pm contest. Sambar Prince is only a December 23 youngster features in a race where his five rivals are mostly out of form. He looks to have a decent make up as he has been slow into stride during trials, with pace on his outside, so with the chance of a clear run round the bends, he could be in contention on the run for home and may not need to improve much on trials in order to make it a winning debut.
Driver could also be on the mark with another youngster, Wanfourtoeknee in the 8.01 contest. A slow start proved to be costly when looking to land the double in an open race last time out but had previously proved too strong at the finish when scoring in this grade. He has a cracking draw out wide being the only wide runner in this field and if able to avoid Swift Nameless in trap five in the early stages, then he could prove too strong at the finish again
