Graham’s Wednesday Tips- Tess can “Act” the part at Romford
With no open race action at all this evening, we look ahead at the graded action at Romford with a view of finding a few winners on their 12-race card
*** 8.19 Romford- Tesseract 5 pts win at 6/5
** 9.11 Romford- Avongate Rhona 3 pts win at 7/4
* 8.36 Romford- Hollywood Chacha 1 pt win at 100/30
The best bet on the card looks to be in the six-bend race at 8.19pm, where Tesseract in trap one could take all the beating over the 575m trip.
Having finished runner-up in her last three starts, including in this grade last time out where she finished ahead of Swift Ian in trap two and Conans Cheetah in trap six, Dave Lee’s strong-running type could go one place better and land a first victory since March 21st over 750m.
With Swift Ian again likely to lead rounding the opening bends, Tesseract can turn in a decent looking position, and with stamina on her side, can take up the lead rounding the final bends to draw clear at the finish.
Avongate Rhonda hasn’t won since making all the running in this grade of A11 on April Fools Day, but punters could be laughing all the way to the bank if she can win in the 9.11pm contest this evening.
Jason Bloomfield’s runner has a good make up in this race being the sole wide runner in trap six with debutant Halo Josie in trap five likely to be taking a middle course early. In a field of largely out of form runners, Avongate Rhona ought to be taking plenty of beating here. She has shown that she is capable of making all the running but can also come from off the pace, so if able to negotiate the opening bends without any hassle, then she should really be landing this contest, though Belladonna in trap two can stay on well in the later stages, and could be a threat if in a handy position rounding the final bends.
The third and final bet for the evening goes in the 8.36pm contest where Hollywood Chacha will look to make all the running from trap six
Tilena Welch’s runner suffered a costly defeat when a beaten 6/4F in her return from seasonal rest last week but was hampered rounding the opening bend. Prior to her absence, she had been running well without scoring in this grade, leading in the early stages before just being picked up close home.
I’d expect her to come on from that run last week, and looks to have a solid chance of leading out wide with Tea Leaf Thor in trap five and Jacktavern Luna in trap four not always the quickest into stride, and if that’s the case, she may just be able to hold on at the finish this time, though Candy Eye, running from trap two has been staying on well in recent weeks and could be the one to reel her in if the gaps can open for Martyn Wiley’s runner rounding the final bends.
