Saturday's Tips

It's a very busy Saturday of greyhound racing with action from the BGBF Produce Stakes at Swindon kicking things off this afternoon. In the evening there is the third round of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby from Shelbourne as well as open class racing from Central Park, Doncaster, Monmore and Oxford.

Saturday's Tips

*** 3.47 Swindon - Izzys Tenpin (3 pts) 4/1

** 4.04 Swindon - Romeo Alliance (2 pts) 8/15

* 6.56 Oxford - Ollie The Ox (1pt) 6/4

The two best selections of the day run this afternoon at Swindon. The first of those is Izzys Tenpin in the opening heat of the BGBF Produce Stakes. He did not come away as well as he can on that occasion, squeezed up a little on the inside but making his way though. He has plenty of stamina in the tank, already a 35.72 winner over six bends at Romford so if he can turn anywhere close to front rank, he can prove too good.

Another battle between litter brothers Romeo Alliance and Romeo Ability is up next with preference for the former. He has a slightly wider draw to overcome than is usually the case but he has more than enough natural ability to overcome that. He should be able to take things up just as they head into the back straight and his middle pace can see him go on to score.

The final main tip of the day comes at Oxford in a maiden where Ollie The Ox makes his racecourse debut for Kevin Hutton. He is a 38 kilo lad and has shown plenty of ability in his trials. Drawn on the inside, he has the early gears to lead these up and given his size, there should be chunks of improvement to come form him as he gains experience.

Shelbourne has seen plenty of vacant traps though the Irish Derby which has been a shame. A bigger blow to the race as a whole this week has been the withdrawal of Bockos Diamond which certainly takes away some of the lustre of what is always an excellent competition.

The loss of Graham Holland's star could be a big help to the English challenge, however, with Proper Heiress drawn in that same heat three at 8.32. Mark Wallis's charge will still have to face the likes of Cheap Sandwiches and English Derby semi-finalist Prince Naseem, so qualifying will be the main goal tonight to make it to the quarter-final next week.

Bombay Pat has set the standard in each of the first two rounds, he headlines heat five at 9.06. It is a decent field with Hello Diego directly inside him as well as smart pup Ballymac Stud in the lineup. He ought to be too good for them, however, and book his place in the next round,.
