Joe's Monday Tips - 28 July 2025
Joe Conneely takes a look over the open racing from Nottingham tonight, giving a tip in all four of the open races.

Monday's best bets from Nottingham
Four open races this evening at Nottingham over two, four and six bends including the first trial stakes for the upcoming ARC Puppy Classic starting in August.
The first open of the night is the ARC Puppy Classic Trial Stakes at 7.27pm where trap three Romeo Ability takes all the beating. Third in the Juvenile Classic at Towcester eight days ago behind his litter brother Romeo Alliance, Romeo Ability is yet to have a competitive start at the Colwick Park venue but did trial there at the start of his career. He should lead and make all with tougher assignments expected in the future but this is a nice introduction to competitive racing at the home of the Puppy Classic where he is going to be a major player when we get to the latter stages of the competition.
The second open is the Nottingham Greyhounds Stayers Trophy over 680m at 8.01pm. Trap four Geelo Minty lowered the colours of Garfiney Blaze over 720m at Sheffield three weeks ago but needs to find plenty on her recent C&D trial of 42.79 compared to Vale Bluebell who clocked 42.24 in defeat two weeks ago before posting 42.41 when second seven days ago. I am going to be with Vale Bluebell in trap two who if coming away can hopefully clear Salacres Cath and Stonepark Abba on her immediate inside and outside. Geelo Minty in trap four needs to come away and avoid Loxleys Tempo in five and Fahee Anne in six who looks certain to lead, so if Vale Bluebell can get first run on Geelo Minty, she can reel in Fahee Anne before the fifth bend and go onto score.
At 8.36pm we have a competitive 305m race. The Nottingham Greyhounds Sprint Trophy where trap five Rental Crisis and trap six Leelad are both looking to complete six timers. Rental Crisis has done all of his work over two bends and remains unbeaten at Nottingham over this evenings C&D with four wins from four starts whereas Leelad has mixed between two and four bends on his way to five wins in a row. I am with Rental Crisis who loves this track and trip so I expect him to be in front of Leelad coming out the second bend where he can see of that rival in what is a fascinating buckle with Acomb Johnny, Witton Williams and Crafty Coco all wanting to have a say.
The final open race of the evening is the Nottingham Greyhounds Standard Trophy over 500m at 9.11pm and is another interesting contest. Trap two Acomb Felix takes all the beating. He has returned to racing by racking up a four timer at Romford and Sheffield but has won his last six on the spin. He should lead from trap two and make all but any mistakes and that could pave the way for for Droopys Extragud in trap five. A recent Three Steps to Victory finalist, he can chase Acomb Felix home in second with Bridefort Lady, Stonepark Wes and Newinn Oscar all needing to be in front of Acomb Felix to give themselves a chance, so it's Acomb Felix to beat Droopys Extragud in the final open race for myself.
