There are only two open races at Nottingham to kick off the week.
The first is the ARC Winner Of One 480m Trophy at 7.44pm where likely favourite Witton Gucci should take all the beating. Still only a September 2023 puppy, Witton Gucci comes into this on the back of two second-placed finishes at Newcastle and over this evening’s C&D, with his latest run being a trial at Sunderland potentially with a look at the Puppy Cup and he can go into that on the back of a victory tonight. He was a length behind Witton Cash on May 26 over C&D but he can reverse that form with a decent exit from trap five and pick up a first victory at Nottingham.
The ARC Maiden Standard takes place at 8.19pm and this is all about trap three, Swift Kipper. This evening’s race is similar to an A1/A2 that Swift Kipper would face if back in graded company and a level break should see him lead and win. He had Slippy Nora over eight lengths behind him last time in A1 and Phoenix Cowboy over three lengths behind him in A2 last month, so with that in mind and Swift Kipper now being a better dog than he was a month ago, he is expected to take all the beating.
The D1 contest at 6.53pm can go to trap four Starcash Best. He was comfortably beaten in fourth last week, with Another Boxcar in third, but he paced up nicely in front of Another Boxcar before finding first-bend trouble, so if trapping this evening, he should lead into the first bend and put the race to bed.
