Thursday tips

***7.33 Hove - Romeo Tomcat (5pts) 4/5

**6.59 Hove - Swift Jarvis (3pts) 3/1

*7.49 Hove - Slick Sentinel (3pts) 4/6

There are stars aplenty on show at Hove this evening as we look ahead to the Coral Sussex Cup and PGR Regency starting in a few weeks time.

The nap of the evening is trap four Romeo Tomcat in the Coral Dual Distance Trophy Heat One at 7.33pm. Coming here on the back of winning the Derby Plate at Towcester, Romeo Tomcat has trialled extremely well over the 515m distance, clocking 29.80. He is well drawn in four this evening, with Kevins Rocket in trap three giving him plenty of racing room, so as long as Romeo Tomcat gets a run from the second bend, he can show that impressive second-to-third-bend pace to take it up and go onto win.

The next best is trap two Swift Jarvis in the Coral 695 Stayers Trophy Heat Two at 6.59pm. He finds himself in with some familiar rivals in Minstrels Six and Art Riddler, who have beaten him but never by more than a length and a quarter. This is the kind of race Swift Jarvis could easily win with Burrows Eclipse in trap six set to lead from trap-rise and as long as Swift Jarvis can stay close enough to his rivals, he can reel in the leader and easily reverse the form with Minstrels Six and Art Riddler from recent weeks to pick up his first victory in a month.

The third bet of the evening is Slick Sentinel who goes from trap six in the Coral Dual Distance Trophy Heat Two at 7.49pm. A Derby semi-finalist who picked up a deserved consolation prize on final night, he is another who has trialled well over the 515m trip, clocking 29.85, with a tilt at the Sussex Cup on the agenda. He finds himself in a more than winnable race this evening with Out the Blue in trap five, who will give him plenty of room early doors. There isn't too much early pace in the race so as long as Slick Sentinel comes away running, he can lead and make all.

Other notable runners on the card include Breton Molly in heat one of the Coral 695 Stayers Trophy at 6.42pm. Romeo Empire runs in heat three of the Coral 695 Stayers Trophy at 7.16pm looking to build on his six-bend debut success at Towcester on Derby final night. March on Freddie goes in the Coral 515 Trophy final at 8.24pm from trap five, looking to follow up last week's demolition job in the heats when beating the classy Queen Shakira by six lengths in a very fast 29.78. Sprinting star Broadway Murty is aiming to complete a hat-trick over C&D in the Teresa & Paul Still Going Strong open race over 285m at 8.41pm.
