Thursday's Tips

*** Powerhouse Duke - 8.41 Hove

** Bubbly Sheeran - 7.16 Hove

* Venetian Will - 8.47 Monmore

Seamus Cahill has a smart stayer in Powerhouse Duke who has taken his form to a new level since he has been stepped up in trip. He's had seven starts over six bends, making a Cat One final, and winning two of his three starts over this 695m distance. The dog to beat him here was Mongys Wild, and there is zero disgrace in that, leading him a merry dance until the final bend.

Paul Young has his most exciting young team for a good while and there could be another unleashed this evening at Hove in the form of Bubbly Sheeran. A November 24 puppy out of a dam who clocked a flying 28.31 Cork on her race debut, he has improved nicely with each trial. He beat Bowmers Wildcat in his most recent mixed trial, that runner a Cat One finalist last summer in the JR Racing Juvenile Classic, so hopes will be high of a winning debut.

The step up to six bends for the first time saw an impressive track and trip success from Venetian Will. He blew the start last week but the time that he produced read well given the context of how far back his sectional was. If he can come away this evening, he can get himself back in front and should produce a new best time to go along with it.
